Automatic or manual control
The Clipsal Minder Home Automation System has a watering function
that can be programmed to work automatically, or turned on by a
call from a mobile or any convenient push-button telephone.
The watering system can be as sophisticated as you wish. From a
keypad on the wall with just an on and off switch to a key with
timer that is programmed to water for controlled periods only.
If your garden has areas with special requirements, eg. a fernery
or rose garden, then your system would be coupled with a commercially
available moisture probe to provide optimum and cost effective watering.
With a moisture probe you can set up Clipsal Minder to automatically
water the garden when the soil becomes dry.

The smart gardener
Even during watering, the moisture probe continuously monitors
the soil and when it is sufficiently moist, the irrigation system
is turned off immediately.
When this program is continued through winter and the soil is usually
moist, watering will only take place occasionally.
You can also tell your system to water the garden after sunset,
or during the night when evaporation is reduced. Clipsal Minder
will also automatically correct itself for sunrise and sunset times
throughout the year.

Minder saves you water and money
As well as a moisture probe a wind gauge may be used to allow the
system to operate only when wind conditions are calm. This will
ensure water is not sprayed everywhere and wasted.
If your system has shut down, either because it is too windy or
there's too much moisture in the soil, you can always override this
manually if you want to.
